Has it really already been THREE years for us? I feel like we just celebrated our second anniversary.. and clearly still remember our first really well. When they say "time flies".... it really flies.

This year, we spent our 3rd anniversary mostly with Drew's family since they were visiting from Utah for their yearly summer beach house trip. We got to Balboa around 12 to hang out on the beach, then over to the fun zone for pizza and funnel cakes. Drew & I left them around 3:30pm to get home and get ready for the Angel's game against Minnesota. (I have the coolest older brother- he gets these incredibly insane tickets from work, and gave them to us! He didn't even know that day was our anniversary!) Before the game, we went up to Fullerton to eat at Chipotle, since it's one of the only places I can eat at, and because our budget this year is quite low for celebrating... but then as we were about to turn into Chipotle, I spotted this Japanese place we were introduced to while in Singapore! It was our favorite thing to eat while there. Of course it's smothered in soy sauce, but I either forgot about that, or purposely put that out of my mind so I could enjoy every bite. The next morning was not the greatest and I have still been really sick :/ Bummer. Maybe I can get them to make me some without the soy sauce and I can smother it with my own!

This was Drew's first MLB game so he was ultra-excited. It's like taking a kid to disneyland for the first time. His expectations were not exceeded, but he still had a lot of fun following a game he once thought was boring. During which, I noticed everyone was eating Red Vines. Reminicing the good ol days when I was able to eat them (and let me tell you, my mom & i shared quite a few boxes in our days together), I said to Drew "If only we can eat those Red Vines right now". A few minutes later, he says he needs to get up and go -- he came back with a slurpee and a box of red vines! The first or second ingrediet though is "Wheat Flour" so that was out of the question- but he didn't know! He was just giving me exactly what I wanted. I went and traded it in for some Sour Patches, but thought it was really cute of Drew. That's really all the money we spent that day because of the free tickets & parking... best $10 ever spent.

We've had a lot of firsts together, because we did marry young, but I'm sure we will still have a lot more. There are also so many things we have learned about each other since the day we got married. I used to think people that were married for more than a year really understood everything there is to know about life. What a naive way of thinking! I know nothing, but what I do know is how to love Drew and what makes us work as a team. We know we want a life for ourselves and are building it from scratch. We are surprised everyday by what we are accomplishing [together]. We truly believe that nothing we do here on Earth is impossible. NOTHING! I always thought that making it back to California after school would be leap years away but look at us now! Of course our lives have changed tremendously and we aren't able to spend and spend on things like indian food or a pair of jeans.. but it's all worth it! We are happy by the beach and have made this lifestyle work for us. For date nights now, we will play cards and get big huge massive drinks of diet coke. Or watch red-boxes on our TV (since we don't have cable). We make it to the beach at least once (if not three different times) a day and love surfing together. I know there will be a time when I'm carrying a baby in my belly and can't lay on a board... so I'm trying to soak it up until that day comes. Surfing will always be something we will do together. And thank the heavens Drew likes Doheny because we live so close to it! We hang out with my family a lot which is always really fun, and make it over to their jacuzzi sometimes. Who knew living in paradise would make you sacrifice, but it's definitely a sacrifice we love!

Love you Drew! I can't imagine what our lives will be like a year from now. Probably really awesome.

Disney's Aladdin supports Happy Sumo?????

A few weeks ago, I went to sushi with some old friends and we had a great time. I then found out that at Happy Sumo (where we were) gives half off on Mondays on certain items, and on Tuesdays, half off your ENTIRE BILL! Well, we were there on Monday so we got a deal on some appetizers and basic rolls. So the next week, on a Tuesday Bree was visiting us, and we decided to out with our friends John & Laura. Mind you, that Drew & I only go to Happy Sumo together when we have something to celebrate because it is more on the expensive side. So we were STOKED to go on Tuesday because half off? Are you joking! GREAT NEWS! We sit down and I bring up the deal to our waitress, Jasmine, just in case it was a scam, and she said, "Yeah except for desserts and special rolls." So we're kinda bummed that the vegas roll is full price, but who cares. Everything is so cheap anyways. We were having a great time until the bill comes. $44.00 ... excuse me? Okay so they really were joking??? I am set off the wall. I tried my hardest not to cause a scene because I am always one that hates when people do that but I even asked our waitress BEFORE we ordered that it was half-off. Laura (the brave one) goes to get our waitress..and she says to her that one of us had to be "VIP". Okay well, I do remember that the time I went with my girlfriends, I signed a little vip card on the back of my bill, and I was supposed to get an email after that saying I was a "VIP". Well little miss Jasmine decided to withhold that information from us from the beginning and I was SO mad! John was trying to hide and even leave because he was worried I would cause a scene. Luckily I didn't. I just couldn't believe that a nice restaurant with a nice reputation would do this. Drew was pretty mad too, and went to get the manager. Well, the manager didn't even do anything, except take off our $4.00 appetizer. HA. It was more insulting than ever. We ended up paying the $44.00 and left, not happy campers. I will NEVER go there again and either shall any of you. The next day, Drew is walking out of his work, and in that same hallway is a drinking fountain. Guess who's using the drinking fountain. Jasmine. She is in fact, a cougar.

The Color Festivities

We decided to go to the Hare Krishna festival this year in Spanish Fork. We had a blast and ate more chalk than last year for sure. We went with John & Laura & Audrey, and met up with Andrew and Natalie Koch, and Erin Roche. We basically just went to get splashed on, and left. Then we hurried home and showered and went out to dinner with Andrew & Natalie. We decided to get good mexican food, and we recommended a place we had been before.. La Casita Mexican Restaurant. It seriously is so good. Then we came home and rented a movie, Son of Rambow, which I watched the next morning because silly me, I fell asleep in the first 10 minutes..(it was a long day, okay?!)

Cougar Bowling Match

This was one of the first times... and I was wondering why I wasn't doing so good in the beginning. We'll that's cuz the thing weighed 3 more lbs than Drew's bowling balls, and the thumbs were way too small. So I would go to throw it, and it was stick to my thumb, and it wouldn't go very fast because it was so heavy!!!!!!!! I later switched to the orange ball.

One away from a turkey!



Something we had yet to do with eachother was go bowling. He mentions it from time to time, but something better always come up, and we do that instead. So, one night, after a very LONG day at school, we wanted to go out and not speak one word about BYU....and only ended up on campus, to play a round of bowling. I kept warning Drew of my amazing skills at knocking the pins down, but he simply laughed, telling me of the time his mom beat his dad and how hilarious that was. I'm pretty sure that motivated me to beat him, so I could laugh about it later...

So we're playing... and I get a strike! Yah...while Drew kept getting spares and what not. Then comes my debut. Drew screams out that I am so close to getting a turkey!! I had no idea what that meant. But I was one strike away from getting it.. (if you get 3 strikes in a row, it's a turkey). Oh man. Just because he said that, I knew I wasn't going to get a turkey because I had that on the line for me. So I ended up knocking all but two down, messing up my streak. I don't like turkey that much anyways!

Well, we had a great time, even though my goal to win, wasn't accomplished. I think we were exactly 20 points apart at the final score. But there was even a discussion of starting a team. If any of ya'll want to go bowling with us, we'll take you on. Since we never got tennis rackets for a wedding gift, we'll keep it indoors with bowling.
